3rd Writing Meeting
We now have a draft structure to the panto which attempts to map an exciting journey for the audience. We have to be careful to ensure that the narrative is balanced so that not one character or theme overrides the other. As Babes in the Wood is a combination of Hansel and Gretal and Robin Hood this is quite challenging to do. This draft structure will then be taken in to the rehearsals as a starting point to develop character, audience interaction and contextualise it in to the village further. Colin has been the sole driving force in writing the whole script which has been invaluable. My role is to now bring it to life on the stage and connect the performer with their role.

Second Writing Meeting
We have completed the second writing meeting which ended in Nick and Colin flouncing out in a showbiz huff off to the pub. Dealing with difficult artistic temperaments can often be difficult especially when they are much taller than me. So the final structure of the narrative is now resolved ( 3 pints in and they knew I was right) it promises to take the audience on a rollercoaster of scenes ending with a super duper royal finale. Talking of finale can anyone make these hats?!

The 2011/12 Pantomime is.........
Babes in the Wood 3rd/4th/5th ( matinee) Feb 2012
Colin, Nick and I have had our first writing meeting which was very exciting, we are feeling super organised this year. It is really interesting how each of us focuses on different aspects on the performance Nick will see a costume, Colin will see a crazy prop and I will ask how does that fit with the narrative! We are really going for a visual spectacle this year with the addition of Mat Randal as technical manager it allows us to experiment more with lighting and fantastic news that Mike is on board for some further moving scenery.
