Behind the scenes....

Great news! The entire cast have at last given up trying to learn last year's lines and have begun work on memorizing this year's lines instead.

The costume deartment has already used up an entire year's allocation of sticky backed plastic and staples (under adult supervision) which hints at either a costume extravaganza, or the likelihood of extreme wardrobe malfunctions.

Mrs Miggins has been scouring the highways and byways of the county for hedgehogs so rest assured; there will be pasties.

Sunday SELL OUT!!!

Within 10 days of the tickets going on sale- SUNDAY HAS SOLD OUT!!! Whoop whoop.
Don't forget there will be 10 standing tickets which can be purchased on the day.

Props/ Set/ Costume Request

I have assimilated a list of stuff that would be useful to have. Mainly: carboard boxes, wooden battens, silver paint, a red jacket (flying monkey). If anyone has anything like this, please keep it to one side.

It seems the shop has nearly sold out for the Sunday performance; not bad going when the tickets went on sale 5 days ago! So please get buying your tickets to avoid missing out.

Somerby Vaudevillians

Dodgy wigs, fake teeth, knitted marrows, men in lipstick, a homemade pantomime horse that poohs, cardboard props and little red riding hood sawn in half, goes in some way to give you a picture of the Somerby Vaudevillian’s annual performance.

Since 2009, Somerby Vaudevillians have been making original performances by using existing traditional pantomime plots which are twisted and adapted to comment on living in the Melton Mowbray parish of Somerby, Burrough, Pickwell and Leesthorpe

Each year the company begins writing in May, recruit as many local celebrities as they can persuade after a few drinks in the Stilton Pub and take the draft script in to rehearsals in September. During the rehearsal period the cast then improvise, develop and play with the script to create a unique, collaborative performance.

Somerby Vaudevillians has tapped in to the unknown creative talent in the village; writers, actors, set builders, prop makers, scenery artists, costume makers. Joining the Somerby Vaudevillians is free and open to anyone living in the parish, which brings together diverse group of people that may not have normally met. Working through the winter months laughing, sharing stories, supporting each other’s creative ideas has helped to solidify a community.

All profits made from the ticket sales, bar and programme goes directly back in to the local parish to improve facilities. None the less, this fundraising is a happy bi product of a project that truly captures the community spirit of working together while having fun in-dodgy wigs, fake teeth, knitted marrows, men in lipstick, a homemade pantomime horse that poohs, cardboard props, sawing red riding hood in half........
